Baseball Trip - Day 1

Today I will be beginning an eight part summary of a great baseball tour that I recently completed. For several years I have had a goal of seeing a game in every major league ballpark and was in the process of trying to see one or two new ones each year. Needless to say, time was marching on quickly as my pace was slowing down. Last year I discovered the wonderful world of baseball tours and found a way to speed up the process.

There are several companies out there which offer regional tours to some of the 30 existing ballparks (counting the two minor league parks now housing major league teams). I have now traveled with two of these companies. Last year I went on a Midwest Trip with Grand Slam Tours, based in Cincinnati. We saw five different parks (and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland - Long Live Rock!). We had first class accommodations and excellent tickets in every city and had a terrific time.

This year we decided to try another company - Diamond Baseball Tours, based in Dallas. I had time to do some comparison shopping, and determined that the tours were very similar in these two companies and several others, but Diamond offered more value at a better price, so we signed up for the East Coast Tour, and am pleased to report that it was everything we had hoped.

I will reveal each day’s locale and agenda as we go through this series. You could probably guess the locations, but the suspense will add to the fun. The Day 1 agenda was light. We flew into Baltimore/Washington International Airport, checked in to our hotel in Hanover MD, and had a meeting with our guides that evening to discuss details for our trip. We learned that the bus would be leaving at 8:30 the next morning for our

first ballpark.

This is not a post about Star Wars; it’s a look at where our Rangers are with a fourth of the season in the books. As I write this the record stands at 19 wins and 21 losses. That record is certainl
