Dust In The Wind

That’s a hit song released in1977 by the rock group Kansas. Saturday it represented the feelings of Jayhawks fans who watched their team blow a 21 point lead and lose 81-70 to Baylor. It was the biggest blown lead ever by a Kansas team. I enjoyed watching the mighty Jayhawks collapse, especially at the hands of my Bears.

Talk about two different halves - the score was 40-21 at the break and Baylor was on life support. They looked tired, out of synch, and disinterested. I don’t know what Scott Drew said to the team at halftime, but it certainly worked. They came out with a vengeance and played ferocious defense which fueled their offense. By the 14 minute mark they were back in the game; then Baylor’s best player, V J Edgecombe was knocked out of bounds on a layup and had to leave the game with a lower body injury. Sure enough Kansas built their lead back to ten. Then Baylor shifted back into high gear. They scored the next 17 points in a row. Final stats showed 4 critical 3’s from Jalen Celestine and a double-double (16/18) by Norchad Omier. Freshman guard Robert Wright controlled the game with his 24 points and 6 assists. He continues to improve week by week. He and V J might be the best pair of true freshmen in Division 1 basketball.

The noise level was unbelievable in the Foster Pavilion. The building is engineered to keep the volume high and boy does it work! It was setting off decibel warnings the entire half. Even the fans seemed exhausted as they filed out with big smiles on their faces. Truly a fun day - Sic ‘em Bears!

Today this is definitely one man’s happy opinion - what’s yours?

It Got Worse

This is not a post about Star Wars; it’s a look at where our Rangers are with a fourth of the season in the books. As I write this the record stands at 19 wins and 21 losses. That record is certainl
