Faux Opening Day

Usually at this time I wish everyone Happy New Year since it’s the start of baseball season. This year it feels a little different, because the powers that be are choosing to have “Opening Night” only available on Netflix. Once again no one from the Commisioner’s office asked my opinion on this matter. This is another attempt to “make the game available to more people” but I don’t really think it works that way. What about the millions of people who don’t have Netflix? Or don’t even know what that is? I guess if you really care you’ll figure out a way to watch it. If not, everyone else plays tomorrow.

Tonight’s game features the Yankees (of course) against the Giants at beautiful Oracle Park in San Francisco. Maybe we’ll get to see someone splash a home run into McCovey Cove - hopefully a Giant!

Logan Webb against Max Fried. Veteran Yankee skipper Aaron Boone versus newcomer Tony Vitelli direct from a very successful run at the University of Tennessee. Vitelli is the first manager to come from college coaching to the majors without any prior experience in the big leagues. Maybe new ideas and a fresh approach will be just what the Giants need.

Fun fact: For the first time in 19 years San Francisco will have the same person as the previous year starting in left field - Heliot Ramos. The last repeater was some guy named Barry Bonds. Remember him?

Today, there are 30 teams tied for first. Tomorrow morning, there will be one in first place, one in last place, and 28 teams tied at 0-0. Let the games begin.

Happy New Year’s Eve!!

That’s one man’s opinion - what’s yours?

Here we go. As I write this, the Rangers are on the road again. (Sing it Willie) This continues the early season schedule trend, with more travel and fewer games at home. This trip feels different, wi

May The Fourth…

This is not a post about Star Wars; it’s a look at where our Rangers are with a fourth of the season in the books. As I write this the record stands at 19 wins and 21 losses. That record is certainl
