First Take

I don’t really enjoy listening to people yell at each other so I seldom watch this morning show on ESPN. If you’re unfamiliar, it is a panel discussion where self-proclaimed “experts” debate and offer their opinions on current developments in the world of sports. It usually includes Stephen A. Smith (you can only guess what the A stands for) who advances some ridiculous proposition to get the circus going.

This morning the show was on when I turned on my TV and I noticed the group had a new participant - Cam Newton. The former quarterback has a unique look, best described as a cross between a riverboat gambler and a second rate magician. It fit the tone perfectly . When I heard the panelists begin their deliberations I was reminded of the words of my Grandfather. He always said the empty tater wagon rattles the loudest!
