P J Leads The Way

After a difficult week, the Mavericks stepped up and got a big win against their rivals from Oklahoma. This was significant because they were coming off a four loss streak which was only halted by a win over the Spurs, also known as the gang that couldn’t shoot straight. In each of their losses, Dallas folded in crunch time, losing the four games by a total of eight points. Sunday evening they managed to hold on in a close game to outlast the Thunder, who came in to the game with only 2 losses for the season.

How did the Mavs do it? Defense and rebounding! Despite the absence of Luka and a poor shooting night from Klay, the team stepped up and showed grit, hustle, and determination. P J Washington was outstanding, with 27 points and 17 rebounds in his second game back from injury. It is not a coincidence the Dallas loss streak coincided with his absence. He takes care of the dirty work, allowing others to fill their roles. On a team with 3 future hall of famers and 2 excellent big men, P J is showing that he is the glue that holds it all together.

That’s one man’s opinion - what’s yours?
