Running Backs

Ezekiel Elliot must be very confused. He asked to be released from the Cowboys because he wanted to be in the playoffs. He obviously thought he could suit up for Ohio State against Texas.

Surprise! Jim Harbaugh must be even more confused. The Los Angeles Chargers just announced they have signed Zeke for their playoff run. His 3 yards per carry should be just what LA needs to propel them to the Super Bowl. Their PR release said “We’re saying there’s a chance!”

In other former Cowboy news, Tony Pollard entered yesterday’s Titans game needing to get 85 yards to earn a $250,000 bonus. He got 62. Ouch. That was an expensive 23 yard shortage.

Remember the Jerry Jones decision not to pursue Derrick Henry in the off-season? Henry was training in Dallas and said he would love to be a Cowboy. Jerry wasn’t interested, so Derek became a Raven. Worked out pretty good. He has gained 1921 yards and scored 16 touchdowns as Baltimore prepares for a playoff run.

The only running back to gain more yards rushing this year was Saquon Barkley. His 2005 yards was the 8th most in NFL history, only 100 yards shy of Eric Dickerson’s 1984 record season. The Eagles elected to hold Barkley out of their last game to avoid possible injury and rest him for the playoffs. I didn’t like that - we may never see someone that close to that 40 year-old mark.

Finally, who will be the Cowboys running back next year? If they don’t improve their offensive line it really won’t matter. Jim Brown could come back as a 25 year old and he would struggle in that scheme.

That’s one man’s opinion - what’s yours?

It Got Worse

Here we go. As I write this, the Rangers are on the road again. (Sing it Willie) This continues the early season schedule trend, with more travel and fewer games at home. This trip feels different, wi

This is not a post about Star Wars; it’s a look at where our Rangers are with a fourth of the season in the books. As I write this the record stands at 19 wins and 21 losses. That record is certainl
