Sadly, I Was Right

In my Sunday post, I correctly predicted that the Eagles would win the Super Bowl. It’s not what I wanted to happen; I just believed they had a better team. We had a nice little watch party. We invited the Chiefs but they didn’t show up. Great food, some good commercials, but a boring game unless you like to watch massacres.

Like many, I expected a great performance from Saquon Barkley would be instrumental in a Philadelphia victory. He wasn’t a significant factor. The KC defense was designed to stop him and they did. But this strategy of overloading against the run left the cornerbacks exposed, and opened the door for the Eagles to pass. There was no pressure on Jalen Hurts and he took advantage. He was the game’s leading rusher and he had plenty of time to find his receivers for 221 yards.

Poor Patrick should sue his offensive line for non-support. He took a beating, was under constant pressure, and was sacked six times. Ouch. Scoring the last 14 points after the game was out of hand made the final score look better, but it was a total beat down. A game (and game plan) best forgotten.

Some are saying the Chief’s run is over, that they are over the hill. I don’t believe that at all. That organization is first class. They will make the right moves to continue in the top tier, and this is not their last appearance in the big game. And Patrick Mahoney is still an all-time top three quarterback, the one I want to have the ball in his hand when the game is on the line. He’ll be back.

Unfortunately, Philadelphia isn’t going anywhere either. With a balanced offense and a powerful young defense, they should be a force for several years. Their only competition in the Eastern Division in the foreseeable future will be the Washington Commanders, led by rising star Jayden Daniels. Sorry Cowboy fans, your only hope is that the Giants will continue to self destruct, keeping Dallas out of the cellar. (Unless Jerry sells the team)

That’s one man’s opinion - what’s yours?

I agree! The problems that the Cowboys have is the Jones family and sadly, there are generations of them still coming so they will own the team and condo destroy it for many years to come.
