Sleepless In Seattle

Sleepless in Seattle was a pretty good movie. Winless in Seattle is a nightmare. The Rangers just finished a three day trip to The Emerald City. For Texas, it was wicked. They were swept by the Mariners in the three games: 5-3, 9-2 and 3-1.

This is nothing new. Last year the Rangers won only one of the six games played in Seattle, and going back to 2020 the record is 8 wins and 35 losses there. It doesn’t matter how the two teams are playing in any given season. When they square off in T-Mobile Park the Mariners become the ‘61 Yankees and the Rangers morph into the Bad News Bears. There is no reasonable explanation. Believe me, if I knew the answer I would be working in Arlington.

Another odd trend continued in the series. Seattle catcher Cal Raleigh hit a home run in each game, accounting for the winning margin in games one and three. For some reason opposing catchers have feasted on Texas pitching the last couple of years. No team has given up more homers to catchers than Texas. Shea Langeliers of the Homeless A’s has 60 home runs in his career, and 10 have come against the Rangers.

The only other thing I can report from the weekend is another addition to my “separated at birth” list. Seattle starting pitcher Logan Gilbert bears a strong resemblance to “my other brother Darryl”. Most of you are probably too young to remember the hilarious show Newhart. Google “Larry and Darryl and his other brother Darryl” for a good laugh.

That’s one man’s opinion- what’s yours?

It Got Worse

Road Trip

Here we go. As I write this, the Rangers are on the road again. (Sing it Willie) This continues the early season schedule trend, with more travel and fewer games at home. This trip feels different, wi

May The Fourth…

This is not a post about Star Wars; it’s a look at where our Rangers are with a fourth of the season in the books. As I write this the record stands at 19 wins and 21 losses. That record is certainl
