The Night Before Christmas … Revisited

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house

All the TV’s were on ESPN (it’s owned by The Mouse).

Posters were hung on the walls with great care

In hopes that a trophy might someday be there.

The fans were nestled all snug in their beds

While visions of championships danced in their heads.

And Ma in her hoodie and I in a ball cap

Thought about our team as we settled down for a nap.

When out on the lawn there arose such a noise

That it woke up all of the girls and the boys.

We all ran to look out the window and see

What in the wide world of sports it could be.

In our driveway we saw a red F250

And I do have to say it looked very nifty!

I drove up on the lawn but I really didn’t fuss

Until it was followed by a big silver bus.

The truck driver opened his door and got out

Jumped to the ground and gave a big shout.

“Now Prescott, now Pickens, now Flourney and Booker

On Turpin, on CeeDee, on Clooney and Hooker.

Everyone listen to whatever I say

That’s more important than how you guys play.”

His eyes - they were bloodshot. His dimples looked funny.

His cheeks were puffy and his nose was runny.

He opened his mouth and began to tell jokes

Then he talked football and really blew smoke.

He said “I’m the owner and also GM

And when I make comments I’m out on a limb.

Only one person has answers - and I am that guy!”

And if you believe that you think reindeer can fly.

So he jumped back in his Ford and drove out of sight

“ Happy Christmas to all and to all a good night!”

With apologies to Clement Moore (no relation to Kellen)

Road Trip

Here we go. As I write this, the Rangers are on the road again. (Sing it Willie) This continues the early season schedule trend, with more travel and fewer games at home. This trip feels different, wi
