The Rich Get Richer

Have I mentioned lately how much I dislike the Dodgers? They’re not as high on the hate meter as the Astros, but they’re getting close. If they were in the American League they would already be my public enemy #1.

I was still holding out hope that the Rangers would re-sign Kirby Yates. Instead, I learned today he is signing with Los Angeles, who just announced the acquisition of the other top closer on the market, Tanner Scott, and have also added leverage reliever Blake Treinen along with 2-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell. They now have every pitcher in the major leagues with the first name Blake. The Dodgers also signed the next Japanese superstar starter Roki Sasaki and Korean second baseman Hyeseong Kim and OF Michael Conforto, and managed to keep free agent Teoscar Hernandez, last year’s Home Run Derby winner.

The Los Angeles team payroll is approaching the level of the US national debt, and they don’t seem to be any more concerned than the folks in Washington. And that’s why I really dislike the Dodgers.
