The Schottenheimer Era Begins

After much speculation and rumor spreading, in a move that surprised quite a few and excited only immediate family members, the Cowboys named Brian Schottenheimer Head Coach this week. In inactivity that surprised absolutely no one and disappointed Dallas fans everywhere, Jerry Jones remains as General Manager. The team is his plaything and he’s going to keep playing with it. Jerry is not good at sharing his toys with others.

Brian may or may not be a capable coach, but you can’t be too carried away when you know that he previously served as the Coordinator of last season’s pathetic offense. You can bet that his main qualification was to take the salary and remain subservient to King Jerry. To quote Jones himself, there’s 500 people who would take that job!

The only owner/general manager in the league is living in the past. He still views the team as it was in the 90”s. By the way, Brian”s Dad Marty was a well respected coach who won more games in that decade than any other, Maybe Jerry thought name association would bring victories. If that’s the case he should try to hire someone from the Vince Lombardi family. That’s the closest the Cowboys will ever come to a Lombardi Super Bowl trophy as long as Jerry Jones is running the team.

That’s one man’s opinion - what’s yours?
